The Good Wife Part 2?

I am a law junkie (think: I took constitutional law this my second semester senior year for FUN) and I also am an die hard Shonda Rhimes fan (think: Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder). Confused why I'm bringing the two up together?

Well, imagine my excitement when Shonda Rhimes is working on a new show that is about...DRUMROLL PLEASE...lawyers!!!

For the People, airing on ABC, is about a young group of bad ass lawyers just trying to make it big in the historic United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (a.k.a. "The Mother Court"). Basically, it follows half of the young lawyers working as public defenders who face off the other half who work as prosecutors working for the chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney's Office.

The show is described as: "...the new Shondaland series show follows six talented young lawyers working on opposite sides of the law and handling the most high-profile and high-stakes federal cases in the country. These young lawyers will be put to the test both personally and professionally as their lives intersect in and out of America's most prestigious trial court."

And this is where the beauty of Shondaland comes in. Yet another popular show where Shonda Rhimes will expertly weave in the most controversial and hot topic issues that we face in Modern America today. Thereby allowing the target audiences to begin discussing these issues openly (and not angrily) OR even just becoming aware of them. The conversation isn't started by an angry anchorman or twitter feed though but by their favorite TV show with the characters they are feel like they are best friends with. Moreover, not through comedy or horror entertainment either. I've written several papers on this, I've said it over and over again and I'll say it now: she is a GENIUS and its programming like Shonda's that will change the conversation in the most unexpected ways.

I'll be back later with more examples of Shonda's brilliance.

The point being, the new show is worth a watch and thanks to Shondaland for what looks like will be another keeper.
